Obituary for Steve Allen Sisk

Steve Allen Sisk, 68, passed away on January 22, 2023 at Baptist Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late Woody and Wilma Sisk. Steve grew up in Little Rock and graduated from Parkview High School in 1972.

For years after graduating from high school he worked at the Sportsop, a sporting goods store in Little Rock and was a respected AAU basketball coach. Nearly 16 years after graduating from high school he found a new life at the Jones Learning Center at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville. The Jones Center is designed to help students who demonstrate average or above-average intellectual abilities, but have learning disabilities. Steve met basketball coach Johnny Johnson at the university and he became an assistant coach.

After graduating from the University of the Ozarks he coached one year at Scranton and then spent the rest of his career at Clarksville. Steve coached for 21 years and during that time he won 4 State Championships, 2 State runner-ups, 8 District tournament championships, 9 Conference championships, 7 Regional championships and 500+ wins.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Woody and Wilma. He is survived by his sister Mary Jo Bradberry and his niece Alison Bradberry Almefty of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and his dog, Murphy.

Steve struggled with many health issues and the family would like to express appreciation to all the doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers, especially the ICU nurses at Baptist Hospital Fort Smith and the Blossoms Nursing Home in Fort Smith.

A memorial service is 2 p.m., Monday, January 30, 2023 at the Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville, Arkansas with Brother Patrick Baker officiating.
