Obituary for Linda Kay Wilkins (Pearson)

Linda Kay Wilkins age 77 of Lamar, AR passed away on August 14, 2022, in her home. She was born to Orville and Wanda Pearson on August 5, 1945, of the Minnow Creek community and was a 1963 graduate of Lamar High School.
Linda was married to her loving husband, Ken, for almost 48 years. Throughout that time, she helped on the farm working in the chicken houses, brush hogging, and raising their children. She was also co-owner of Kenco Inc., in which she helped operate with her husband.
She loved to read a good book with a big glass of unsweet tea by her side. Cooking was not work for her, it was a joy, and she was excellent at it, which she attributed to both of her grandmas and her Daddy. She always liked to have her nails done, and her hair to be perfect. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and just “shooting the bull.”
In 2000 Linda started one of her favorite jobs at D.J.’s Gas and Grocery in Lamar, little did she know a part time position would last for 20 years. She loved talking with all “her people.” When she was there you could go into the store for a therapy session, get advice, or a butt chewing if needed. No matter what was going on you always felt better after talking to her. She was a mother to many, a stranger to no one, and loved by scores.
Linda also enjoyed singing. She was a member of the local gospel group, “The Wilkins Quartet” along with her husband Ken and cousins, Kay, and Dannie Wilkins. They traveled all over Johnson County singing at different churches, Peach Festivals, and the County Fair.
Linda leaves behind her husband Kenneth Wilkins of Lamar. Two brothers David (Sandy) Pearson of Lamar and Dennis Pearson of Little Rock. A daughter, Melanie, and son in law, James Domerese. A son Bryan Wilkins and Belinda. A son, Billy Joe, and daughter in law, Courtney Wilkins all of Lamar.
She also leaves behind six granddaughters, Jama Domerese, Sarah Wilkins, Josie Wilkins, Abby Wilkins, Mayci Wilkins, and Jaylea Wilkins.
A grandson, Phillip Wilkins, and a bonus grandson Dylan Mize.
One great-grandson Adam Wilkins.
