Obituary for Julia Ann Shook (Rowton)
Julia Ann (Rowton) Shook kept her Christmas tree up all year because the joy and wonder of Christmas should not be confined to a single day or week or even month. She moved on to her next adventure Friday, July 15th, 2022.
During her lifetime, she was a tap dancer, a painter, a vending machine hostess, a preschool teacher (with her best friend, Marie), a camp counselor, and a phenomenal storyteller.
She had no sense of direction and was relatively tone deaf, but as far as her family can tell, those were her only real faults.
She was Julie-Ann and Jude and Mom and Grandma Judy and half of the notorious Nana-and-Poppy duo.
At the age of 11, she told a cute guy on the bus that he was her boyfriend, and she was going to marry him. Roy Zearl Shook found no means of escape and they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in May.
In addition to her beloved husband, Judy is survived by her children, Dr. Rhonda Shook (David Rackley) of London, Rev. Frank Shook (Teresa) of Clarksville, Mike Shook (Annette) of Greensboro, North Carolina, Brenda Stalnaker (Dale) of Lamar, Jodi Hennesy (Blake) of Cabot, and Erin Shook of Clarksville.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Julian and Mattie Rowton, her sisters, Mary Spainhour and Patty Rowton, and her grandson, Eli Shook.
An open viewing will be held from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19th at Hardwicke Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at East Mt. Zion Trinity Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 20th, at 10:00 a.m. A short graveside service will be held in the afternoon at the Fort Douglas cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jason, Jacob, Justin, Drew, and Grayson Shook and Delaney Stalnaker.
Honorary pallbearers are Tyler Clayborn, Wyatt Stalnaker, and Ian and Colton Hennesy.
