Obituary for Joanne Taylor
Joanne Taylor, 87, of Clarksville, AR, passed away on May 1, 2022 at her home. She was born January 24, 1935 in Clarksville, AR to the late Ewell and Corrie Riddle Willett.
She was retired as owner of Phil Taylor Insurance Agency and a member of Clarksville Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband Phil Taylor, brothers Edward E. Willett, Guy E. Willett, Mansel Willett and Robert "Bob" Willett and sisters Earla Bucher and Verneil Hixson.
She is survived by one son Phillip Taylor Jr (Melody) of Clarksville, AR, and two granddaughters Tegan Utterback (James) and Bethany Wood (Keaton), all of Clarksville, one grandson Phillip Taylor III of Clarksville, and great granddaughters Kaelynn Renee Wood and Klara Beth Wood of Clarksville. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Joanne was a member of the Clarksville High School Class of 1953, and enjoyed class reunions. She married Phil Taylor in 1955 and they were married for 46 years when he passed in 2002. She was a 1960 graduate of the former The College of the Ozarks and later served on the University of the Ozarks Alumni Board where she received the Alumni Merit Award in 1991. She taught school at Coal Hill, AR in the early 60’s.
She loved cooking for the family and prepared Sunday dinner every week. She enjoyed canning, sewing clothes for her grandchildren, and quilting. She liked playing the piano and singing. Lions Club banquets were a highlight of her year even after her husband passed.
Open viewing will be held during business hours on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Hardwicke Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Clarksville Church of Christ in Clarksville with Jake Chism officiating. Burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery in Clarksville, AR.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Taylor Jr., Phillip Taylor III, James Utterback, and Keaton Wood.
