Obituary for Jimmy Lawrence Smith Sr.
Jimmy Lawrence Smith, Sr. was born on October 12, 1939 in Woodland, Johnson County, Arkansas to W.R. (Happy) and Ellen Mae (Warren) Smith. He passed away at home on November 21, 2022 at the age of 83 years, 1 month, and 9 days. He was an Army Veteran, serving our country in the mid-'60s, and a member of the American Legion. Jimmy loved to fish, hunt, garden, cook, and make wine. He was a gravedigger and mechanic by trade.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother William Clarence Smith and sister-in-law Rosie, sister Helen Stewart, brother-in-law John Ray, grandson Tod Smith, and daughter-in-law Shawndra Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue; sons, Jimmy Smith Jr. (Karen Stepp), John Smith (Jennifer), Jeffery Smith Sr. (Kristin); sister, June Ray, brother, Charles Smith (Debbie), grandchildren, Johnny, Jackie, Christopher (Stephanie Ross), Amanda (Vincent) Estes, Jimmy lll, Jeffery Jr. (Becky), Tommy, Braxton and Alice, and his 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Woodland Baptist Church in Clarksville, Arkansas.
Funeral Services are at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Woodland Baptist Church with Brother George Willis officiating. Burial to follow at Woodland Cemetery in Clarksville. Pallbearers are Johnny Smith, Jr., Christopher David Smith, Jimmy Lawrence Smith, III, Thomas Allen Bohm-Smith, Braxton Lawrence Bohm-Smith, and Rylee Michael Dean Jones. Honorary Pallbearers are his great-grandsons.
