Erma (Drewry) Brooks, the oldest living child of Cathleen (Ford) Drewry and Clarence Drewry, born December 17, 1930, passed away on August 26, 2022, at the age of 91. Erma has two living siblings, Gene Drewry (Donna) of Coeur d Alene, Idaho, and Margie Hamilton (Larry) of Helena, Arkansas. Two siblings who have passed: Virginia Vrooman (Dan) of Helena, Arkansas and William Drewry (Nancy} of Virginia Beach, Virginia. There are also a large number of nieces and nephews.

Erma had a life of many events. From going to 1st grade in the local church at Johnson's Chapel to living in Dyess, Arkansas; a federal planned community, 40 acers, a house and a horse; a new deal during the depression as the history books say, to graduating from Shawnee High School in Joiner, Arkansas. Erma eloped with her high school sweetheart, James C. Brooks (Jim) on August 21, 1948. They had 64 years together before Jim passed away in 2002. Together they raised 5 kids, who increased the family with 14 grandchildren, 22 really fun-loving great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren to date. The family they made together is now spread far and wide.

Erma and Jim raised their family moving all over the United States, from Arkansas to California and from Canada to Texas. They decided to return to Arkansas and to retire in Clarksville, 1980's. Erma belonged to the United Methodist Church since 1970, where she was very active. Erma worked and helped build the Mustard Seed Thrift Store till 2017. Erma was a lifetime member and benefactor to the Johnson Country Historical Society. A member of the ARVAC board for 10 years and worked at the Interfaith Food Bank.

Erma had been living at the Johnson County Health and Rehab Center for the last few years. Alzheimer's disease is the cause of her passing. Erma had a long and full life and we wish her well in the next.

Erma's children are: Kay (Brooks) Beasley (AB); Jim Brooks Jr. (Raquel); Lynn Brooks (Leonard Cowart); Charles Brooks (Missy); Michael Brooks; and adopted daughter Judy (Wise) Brister (Randy).
