Obituary for Donald Lee Harkreader Sr.

Donald Lee Harkreader Sr., age 83, of Hartman Arkansas, was born to Baxter Lee and Margaret Lorene on 13 November 1938 in Hartman. He left his earthly dwelling on 21 October 2022 to go be with his heavenly father and wife of 65 years, Clara (BB).

Don attended Hartman High School and left in 1955 to join the Navy. He served aboard the aircraft carriers Boxer and Kearsarge making two sails to Asia. While serving in the Navy he started courting Clara BB Johnson of Hartman, and they tied the knot on 4 May 1957. He was a member of the VFW in Coal Hill and used to enjoy the get together and cook outs. Donald Lee farmed in the Hartman bottoms for over 25 years and was a retired Heat and Frost Insulator from Local 64 in Tulsa Oklahoma. He and his wife of 65 years started a trucking business called H&N Trucking, hauling grain and other products around the country. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Coal Hill. Don collected John Deere memorabilia and was an avid NASCAR fan. His favorite driver was currently Chase Elliot. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His door was always open, and his smile was always present.

He was preceded in death by his wife BB, parents and one brother Ernest Brooks.

He is survived by his two sons Donald (Donnie)Harkreader Jr and wife, Karla of Ludwig, Doug Harkreader of Hartman; grandchildren, Donald (Dondi) Harkreader III & wife Dana of Clarksville, Raymond (Jamey) Harkreader of Clarksville, Stacey Fowler of Hartman, Jessica Matthews & husband Seth of New Caney, Texas, Kimberly McLemore of Muncie, IN and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville.

Funeral Services are 2 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the Hartman Cemetery in Hartman, Arkansas with Reverend Amos Pledger officiating. Pallbearers are James Whittle, George Whittle, Willy Whittle, Michael Joe Fowler, Michael Don Fowler, and Dillion Burgess. Honorary Pallbearers are David Harkreader, Steve Fowler, Bill Brotherton, and Paul Whittle.
