Dennis Robert Rood was born on December 15, 1942 in Niles, Michigan to Robert W. and June E. (Schrumpf) Rood. He passed away on January 7, 2023 in Clarksville, Arkansas at the age of 80. Dennis passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving Family. Dennis was one of the most selfless, knowledgeable men you would ever meet. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and great-grandsons. He was a United States Navy Veteran, member of Franklin Masonic Lodge, Johnson County Car and Truck Club, former member of RFD 2, and a former member of Johnson County Dive Team. He was a graduate from Niles High School and worked in environmental operations with ARCO.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert W. and June E. (Schrumpf) Rood; his wife, Kristi A. (O'Leary) Rood; his daughter, Melanie June McGaughey.

He is survived by his son-in-law, William McGaughey; his sisters, Patricia (William) Anderson of Niles, Michigan; Mary (William) Miswick of Niles, Michigan; Cheryl (Ron) Daniels of Elkhart, Indiana; his granddaughters, Hailey (Jay) Baumgartner of Clarksville, Arkansas and Sarah McGaughey of Clarksville, Arkansas; his great-grandsons, Knox Baumgartner and Bennett Baumgartner.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2023 at the Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville, Arkansas.

A graveside service is 10 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the Hartman Cemetery in Hartman, Arkansas with Brother Paul Buchanan officiating. Pallbearers are Sean McPhillips, Bill Bush, Dr. Bobby Noonan, Frankie Tucker, Steve DeYoung, Dale Pitts, Steve Smith, and Michael Pitts.
