Obituary for Bessie Ruth Marvel (Sims)
Bessie Ruth Marvel was born in Fordyce, Arkansas to James and Eugenia (Rugg) Sims on November 3, 1932. She passed away on February 18, 2023 in Gladewater, Texas at the age of 90. She was a member of the Stillwell Baptist Church in Clarksville, Arkansas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Eugenia (Rugg) Sims; her husband, Alfred Phillip Marvel; her son, Stan L. Marvel; her brothers, Alvin Sims and wife, Francis; J.D. Sims and wife, Vera; Freddie Sims; her sister, Margaret "Peggy" Sims.
She is survived by her son, Richard W. Marvel and wife, Teri of Katy, Texas; her daughters, Susan J. Purdy and husband, Marvin of Big Sandy, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Linda Marvel of Olathe, Kansas; her six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service starts at 2 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2023 at the Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville, Arkansas.
Funeral Services begin at 2 p.m. with Brother Scott Lockhart officiating. Burial will follow at Hartman Cemetery in Hartman, Arkansas. Her family members will serve as pallbearers.
