Obituary for Bernadine Marie "Dean" Trahan (Ortego)

Bernadine "Dean" Trahan went home to be with Jesus on December 22, 2021 at age 87. Dean was born to Ella Mae Fuselier and Herbert Ortego in Washington, Louisiana on October 21, 1934, the first of seven children.

Dean was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Herbert Ortego Jr., and a grandson she loved so dearly, Lee Michael Williams. She is survived by her children, Joey Trahan (Brenda), Jan Campain (Jim), Laurie Fangue (Carl), Carol Trahan, and Tommy Trahan (Terry) as well as ex-son-in-law, Chris Williams. Dean is also survived by siblings Mercedes Fontenot, Clara Dunnington, Becky Ortego, Mitch Ortego and Vicki Chelette as well as sister-in-law, Joy Ortego. They all call her "Nan" in such a loving way. Her surviving grandchildren are Alison Trahan, Caleb Trahan, Ryan DeVillier, Mikelle DeVillier, Carl Fangue, Jr., Ashlyn Fangue, Stephan Williams and Chase Williams as well as nine great-grandchildren. She was close to her nieces and nephews, who loved to see Aunt Dean on her frequent visits to the family farm in Washington, Louisiana.

Throughout her life, Dean's Christian faith was her guiding light. She loved reading her Bible and attending services, worship and praise with singing and prayer. She, much like her mother Ella Mae, believed in the true goodness of people and was always a peacemaker.

A private service will be held at Mt. Airy Cemetery in Clarksville, Arkansas, under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home.

A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated staff at Memory Lane and Johnson County Health and Rehab.
