Barbara Morgan Ekblad departed our world on the evening of 25 October 2022 in Little Rock, AR and went to the Grace of our Lord.
She is survived by: her brother George Lake Morgan and his wife Kate Morgan, her oldest son Russ Ekblad and his wife Carmen Ekblad, her second-oldest son Michael Ekblad and her youngest son Eric Ekblad. She is survived by four grandchildren: Morgan Ekblad, Tess Ekblad, Ellery Ekblad and Max Ekblad. She is also survived by her Aunt Patricia in Sewanee, TN, the last living person in her mother’s generation.
She was born on 2 October 1939 in Houston, Texas to Berney Morgan and Dorothy Morgan. She spent her childhood in West University in Houston, Texas. During her childhood, she was interested in dance and playing the piano. She graduated from Lamar High School in Houston, Texas. While attending Texas Tech University, she was a proud member of Delta Gamma sorority. Soon after, she lived for a short time in Chicago, Illinois.
Afterwards, she worked faithfully for the family-oriented Great Southern Life Insurance Company in Houston, TX. She contributed vital work to the legal department. After her sons were grown, she relocated to Clarksville, AR and became a proud worker for the Sara Lee Corporation for many years.
Mrs. Ekblad was a skilled sewer and liked to play cards when she socialized. She believed in American values and ensured that her sons went on to have successful lives. She was a great cook who also loved to read mysteries. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends who cared for her well-being and health. Mrs. Ekblad’s life is a testament to the family who surrounded her with hope, love and prayers for her health to be strong.
She will be laid to rest next to her parents in Mt. Vernon cemetery north of Ludwig, AR. Her family will ensure that she will be in a lovely, quiet place of remembrance and peace.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2022 at Mt. Vernon Cemetery with Reverend Amos Pledger officiating.
